Chocolate Almond Raspberry/Strawberry Tart – RAW GF

This recipe is So rich and fulfilling!! Aghh I LOVE chocolate. When I’m craving sweets, instead of going to junk food and processed milk chocolate candies or sugar filled baked goods, I would rather just spend some time to make something special of my own that I know every ingredient that was put into it.  You take maybe 20 minutes of prep time to make this RAW desert, freeze it, and you’ve got desert for your entire family or for you for a whole week or more!!  And the display is beautiful, I don’t think anybody is going to look at this cake and say ‘eww it’s vegan?’ if you told them, nor will they even have a clue if you don’t say anything!  Watch them fall in love.

Hehe, and you don’t need to even feel guilty about this, sure it is calorie dense (I mean the body does run on calories after all), but it is also very healthy for you.  All of the ingredients we are going to be using can benefit you in many ways, such as real quality dark chocolate with its antioxidants, or coconut milk which comes filled with vitamins and minerals, fruit which has fiber and more vitamin C,  and almond meal as a great source of protein.  And might I mention again, its all RAW? Yup!  And Very very easy to make, you don’t even need any special kitchen supplies like a blender or anything, except for a pie pan to put it in.

Chocolate Almond Raspberry/Strawberry Tart - RAW GF

Serves: 12 Cooking Time: Prep time - 20 minutes, Freezing time - 1-2 hours


  • 2 Cups - Almond Meal/Flour
  • 1/2 Cup - Cocoa Flour (Quality! Look for Fair Trade)
  • 1/3 Cup - Coconut Oil (melted)
  • 3 Tbsp - Maple Syrup
  • 1 Can - Coconut Milk
  • 2 - 2.5oz Bars of Taza Chocolate (TOP NOTCH! Best taste, vegan and fair trade!)
  • 2-4 Tbsp - Coconut Sugar (or your choice of sweetener, ex: stevia, xylitol, brown sugar, etc).
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 Cup - Your choice of fruit to top with (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, kiwi etc).



Start by making your crust with your flours, coconut oil and maple syrup. Get a mixing bowl out and mix all of the ingredients together well enough until you start to get a thick sturdy dough (like play dough).


Oil a pie pan with a removable bottom down lightly and start pressing the dough with your fingers along the bottom and coming up the sides of the pan. Spread evenly, about 1/2" thick.


Next we will prepare the filling with coconut milk, your chocolate bar, sugar and salt. Get a small pot and start warming up the coconut milk, chocolate and sugar over a low heat. Be careful not to burn anything! Keep cooking and stirring until they properly mix together into a nice cream. Taste to see if you need any more sweetener before turning off the stove.


Pour the cream into your pan and place your choice of fruit on top.


Keep in the freezer for 1-2 hours before eating. When you are ready to eat it, make sure you keep it out of the freezer for at least 20 minutes to soften it up enough to cut it.


Delight in your desert!
